Project Highlights

  • Elementary School
    • 3rd grade students created laser engraved designs to showcase and sell at their Cultural Festival. All money raised was donated to The Wild Animal Sanctuary.
      • Want to see more? Julia Halualani is a 3rd grade teacher in a dual language immersion school. Julia integrated Project Heart into her classroom to inspire her students to connect their passion for animals to the community, innovation and culture! • Want to see more? Jake Franklin used Project Heart to inspire his middle school Innovation classes to give back and meet needs connected to their personal passions. Student Impact Projects ranged from bike repairs and river cleanups to toy drives and gaming tournaments. Find out more by watching the recording and accessing the presentation HERE (starting on slide 10).
    • Middle school students used Project Heart as part of their design thinking instruction. A few of the service projects that came to life in this class after Project Heart lessons:
      • One student started Red Waggon Donations, providing essential products to people in need. She did this by collecting donations like toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, paper towels, etc., and put them into a wagon, where she would then distribute the products to people in need. This student created flyers and a logo, while also keeping her own schedule of collection and distribution of products. She even worked with local hotels for extra toiletry donations.
      • One student took his passion for animals and put that into fundraising efforts for his local animal sanctuary. He created a website for his cause and also wrote a press release for a local newspaper to collect donations.
        • Want to see more? Christian Ludwig is a middle school teacher at VIDA (Vista Innovation and Design Academy). Christian integrated Project Heart into his classroom to inspire his students and instill social value to entrepreneurship! Check out what Julie had to say about her time using Project Heart in the classroom by accessing a presentation HERE (starting on slide 10) or watch the recording.
  • High School
    • High School students received Project Heart in their engineering class. Students were asked to brainstorm ideas for an engineering project related to philanthropy using their computer design software, 3D printers and a laser cutter. One students interviewed her aunt who had a 4-year-old daughter with a genetic condition that requires a lot of medicine to be administered each day via a syringe. Her aunt was looking for something to hold and dry all of the medical syringes. The class was able to create a product that would allow her (and others facing this same challenge) to keep the syringes organized, keep them off dirty surfaces and speed up the drying process.
